A series of events including a protest rally are being organised at the UN summit on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from 22-26th September in New York, by the Asia Dalit Rights Forum (ADRF) and other Dalit rights networks. The events culminate in a demonstration on the 26th September at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza in NYC from 1:30-3pm. We urge those in New York to take part in the events and support the struggle for Dalit rights. A signature petition has also been launched. Please find below more information from the organisers:

The SDG 2015 inter-governmental negotiations have closed out its doors on the Dalit issues being addressed despite several attempts in raising our concerns.  It is absolutely crucial at this stage that several of us participate and try and visibilise the issue of Caste as these development goals and targets are going to be the framework in which each country will plan and formulate development agenda nationally.  So that the necessity of Dalit rights solidarity and the need for SDG 2015 to address Caste based discrimination will indeed be addressed at the UN. Please see the programme of events for more information.
