Diaspora communities
When immigrants from South Asia settle in other countries, they often bring the caste system with them. Recent research has shown that caste discrimination is common in the United Kingdom as well as the United States.

The UN principles and guidelines on caste discrimination also mentions the responsibilities of states with diaspora communities: "Governments of the countries with diaspora communities where discrimination based on work and descent is practiced should take effective measures to prevent such discrimination," the document states.
