Members of the European Parliament speak out against caste discrimination
21/03/11

Following February’s European Parliament hearing on caste discrimination a hard hitting opinion piece on caste discrimination by MEP Peter van Dalen was yesterday published in New Europe and several other MEPs have taken up the issue on their website and in press releases.

A number of MEPs are so outraged by the severe human rights violations caused by caste discrimination in South Asia, that they are now doing what they can to shed light on an issue that is much too often swept under the rug. In their statements they all call for the EU to take more action on this issue and Peter van Dalen ends his opinion piece with the statement, “Enough words – it’s time for action. Stop caste apartheid now!”
